Guangzhou Nansha Huannong Fishery Research Institute is a fishery science and technology innovation institution jointly established by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Guangdong Province, the Management Committee of Nansha Economic and Technological Development Zone and South China Agricultural University. Officially registered and established in May 2022, the Institute is positioned to serve the development of the fishery industry, overcome the bottleneck of industrial technology, and is committed to building a world-influential international aquaculture innovation highland led by the scientific and technological innovation of the modern aquaculture seed industry, creating a base for the integration of production, learning and research, the transfer and transformation of results and a high-level postgraduate talent training base. To provide personnel and technical support for the transformation and upgrading of the fishery industry, the improvement of quality and efficiency, the implementation of the national Strategy of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the strategy of rural revitalization.


In order to support the construction of the institute, Nansha District invested support funds and various policies, personnel and other aspects of support, designated Nansha District Agriculture and Rural Bureau to provide business guidance. The institute has a strong innovation ability and focuses on aquaculture seed industry, nutrition and feed, disease prevention and control, breeding environment regulation and smart fisheries. It has created "One center + five fishery innovation platforms", including intelligent Marine pasture technology research and development and integration center, aquatic breeding and seed industry platform, aquatic germplasm resources and environment platform, aquatic disease prevention and control platform, aquatic precision nutrition platform, and intelligent fishery and facility breeding platform. One center and five fishery innovation platforms have their own characteristics and cross each other, and together form an internationally influential and nationally leading modern fishery science and technology innovation team.

Hong Kong and Macao Joint Laboratory for the Conservation and Utilization of Marine Biological Resources;


To establish the tropical and subtropical fishery germplasm resources specimen and gene bank with Nansha characteristics;

Cultivating aquaculture varieties (new strains) and supporting efficient and healthy aquaculture technologies;

The Aquaculture breeding and seed industry platform focuses on the cultivation and application of new varieties, and cultivates new varieties with excellent traits such as disease resistance and rapid growth through cross breeding, whole genome selection breeding, polyploid breeding and molecular design breeding.


The aquatic precision nutrition platform focuses on the development of efficient and environmentally friendly compound feeds, and develops precise nutrition requirements and environmentally friendly compound feeds according to the growth cycle and nutritional requirements of different aquaculture varieties.


The aquatic germplasm resources and environment platform focuses on environmental pollution and treatment of aquaculture water, with shore-based integrated equipment and tailwater treatment system.


The aquatic disease prevention and control platform focuses on the detection of important pathogens and vaccine development of aquaculture animals, establishes convenient and fast pathogenic nucleic acid detection technology, and develops a variety of aquaculture animal virus vaccines.


The smart fishery and facility breeding platform focuses on the engineering and intelligence of aquaculture equipment, and has established a big data cloud platform for fishery water quality and applied it.
