From the time dimension, the general Secretary's visits to Guangdong were all at an important juncture for the advancement of the cause of the Party and the country.

The second visit took place in October 2018, when China celebrated the 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up. In the face of extensive and profound changes in the international and domestic situation, the General Secretary issued a call in Guangdong to "continue to comprehensively deepen reform, comprehensively expand opening-up, and strive to create a new and greater miracle that will impress the world."

In October 2020, the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Special Economic Zone, the General Secretary came to Guangdong for the third time. Guangdong's economic aggregate has ranked first in China for more than 30 consecutive years. The latest statistics show that in 2022, the economic aggregate of nine cities in the Pearl River Delta accounted for more than 80 percent of Guangdong, while the total economic aggregate of 12 cities in the east, west and north of Guangdong accounted for less than 20 percent.

During his visit to Guangdong in October 2018, the General Secretary pointed out in Qingyuan that "the unbalanced development between urban and rural areas and between regions is the biggest weakness in Guangdong's high-quality development". He urged Guangdong to make efforts to turn these weaknesses into "potential boards" and improve the balance and coordination of development.

The first stop of the General Secretary's visit to Guangdong will be Zhanjiang City, where he will learn about the local development of Marine fisheries, strengthening the protection of mangroves, enhancing the connectivity of transport infrastructure, promoting the development of Hainan Province in Guangdong and optimizing the allocation of water resources.
